Good morning everyone,

As promised today I'm going to show you what went on in our little

town on Labor Day and what all it takes for all this to take place. In

the header picture is the ribbon awards that I made to give to the

parade entries that were judged and won. Our town doesn't have a

lot of businesses that we can ask for them to sponsor the parade so

we make do with what we have, with this being the case I saved our

community days committee almost a hundred dollars in making the

awards and we still have material left for next years awards.

For many that don't know it takes months to prepare to put on a

parade. Fliers and letters have to be sent out inviting people to come

and be in our parade. There is insurance that needs to be bought to

cover and it has to be a certain amount of coverage dictated by the

city. Arrangements have to be made with the city for a staging area,

road closures, when the parade will start and end, and when the roads

can be re-opened. We have to find an announcer that will announce

the parade entries. The day of the parade we need volunteers that

will make sure everyone that has come to our parade is registered so

that we have a discription of the entry for the announcer. We also

need volunteers that will get the entries on the parade route moving

along in an orderly manner. If all of this is not taken care of then we

would not have some of the entries you see in the pictures below.

Wardens' FloatAfter the parade everyone heads to Volunteer Park where the festivities

continue. All of this also takes months of planning. There is also a certain

amount of insurance coverage that needs to be bought for this event. Ads

are placed in the paper and craiglist as early as march to hopefully get a

wide variety of vendors. We do give those that were here the year before

first dib to return before we start seeking more vendors. Besides working

on the vendors we start looking for entertainment. We plan with the city

on getting portable out houses, portable drinking fountains, road closures

around the park, power at the right locations for vendors to use, water

availability for the vendors to use also. Then theres figuring out placement

of booths so not to have vendors with similar items next to each other.

Making sure that we have banners to hang up around the area. The day of

the event we mark off the vendor spaces. Pictured below is some of the

entertainment and vendors.

The next two pictures are a couple of higschool classes working to make

money for their senior trip when they become seniors. They start

working on their trip fund as freshmen. This is Wardens' FFA class raising money for their trips. Believe me it's a lot of work, and only about half a dozen people did it.

Yet there are always so many complaints about the way things are done.

The money that is taken in sits for next years event to pay for all the

paper, ink, stamps, ads, awards, etc. I've been part of helping put this on

for three years and this is my last year doing it. I'm tired of all the

complaining and people not realizing what I spend out of my own pocket

in fuel, the quicker oil changes, running around taking care of some of

these things. I've been sick to my stomache the day after the event and

am still sick. I don't know if it is stress, the heat, or food poisoning. For

the sake of my health that is why I will no longer help with this event.

Sorry for the long post but I had to get this off my chest.

Good morning everyone,

I know that our summer is almost over and I just wanted to share

some more of the wonderful garden ideas that I got from the fair.

It may be to late this year but I hope that my header picture and

the picture below will help give you some ideas for your garden

next year.

The next couple of pictures of some more art work done on feathers. I couldn't seem to get a picture of this one without some type of glare

not even in the close-up picture below.

My husband really liked the scene on the feather pictured below. The next picture is for you my friend Deb. Some of the crochet and

knitted entries at the fair. There was alot of really beautiful items entered in the fair. So much

work put into their craft. Thank you to all that still hand craft. I really

enjoyed seeing all the love put into it.

I actually went to the fair three times that week. First day was to see

Marian the second was to see the demo derby and the third time was

to go see the Rodeo. I'm not a real rodeo fan not even when my husband

use to rodeo. I'll tell you all about that some other time. The only reason

that we went to the Rodeo is because my husbands boss gave him the

tickets and then come to find out they were box seats it was a different

way for me and my husband to see a rodeo. LOL....Tomorrow I'll show

you some of the things that went on here in our small town on Labor Day.

I'm Baaack!!!!!!

Good Morning my fellow bloggers,

It's been a really busy time for me and I have been on the go for

about a month now. I've been busy working on our towns Labor

Day celebration which now has come and gone, but along with

that we had our county fair which I attended several times and

got some really nice pictures like the one you see in the header.

The header picture is of a display that was in the floral barn. I

fell in love with the look. Maybe some day I will have something

like that in my garden. The next picture is of my friend Marian

dancing with her dance troupe at the fair. One of the reasons I

went to the fair.

While at the fair I managed to go look at all the barns and got some

pictures of some of the crafts like the quilt pictured below. This quilt

took top honors and the person that made it is from my little town

of Warden. I love all the wonderful colors. We all know that there are some really creative people out there

and in the picture below you'll see what I mean. Can you tell that some one painted a scene on a feather? In the

picture below I got a close-up so you can see the detail. Isn't it

just amazing?

The next picture is of a robot that was at the fair. It was really cute

because the young children interacted with it so well. The robot would

talk to the kids and follow them around. The robot pestered me for

a little bit but I managed to lose him. LOL........ I think it wanted me

to take more pictures of it.

Tomorrow I will show you a few more pictures of some other things

that I pictured at the fair which were interesting to me. Have a Splendid

Another crazy day

Hello Everyone,

Yesterday was a busy day for me and a little nutty too. Let me start at the

beginning for you and you'll understand why the picture of a Bearded

Dragon is the header picture (picture borrowed from etsy shop elany)

It was payday for my husband which for me it means going to Moses

Lake to pay some bills and buy some groceries. One of our sons lives

with us and it was a work day for him and when I'm away from the house

I call him to make sure he is up and getting ready for work because his

shift starts at 7:00 p.m. When I called him at 3:00 p.m. to make sure he

was up he sounded like he was down and out. Isn't it funny how moms can

tell this about their kids just in their voice. I asked him what was wrong

and he told me that his bearded dragon and iguana had both died. I felt

bad for him. In my mind i could picture what the iguana looked like when

he was alive and thriving like in the picture below. (picture borrowed from

Celticcatphotos etsy shop) Then I thought of what I could get my son to remember his animals.

Maybe some type of charm that he could put on his key ring like in

the picture below. (picture borrowed from etsy shop JewelsbyJMarie) Then my mind went to thinking of what my son might do with the

dead creatures. I though about maybe I would have an iguana skeleton

sitting around the house like in the picture below. (picture borrowed

from etsy shop newcatkate) I finally get home and get all my groceries put away, start fixing

dinner. My husband gets home and he can tell that something is

wrong and I tell him that our son is in mourning cause his animals

died. We are all a little sad. My son leaves for work and my husband

and I get into our usual nightly routine. Wash the dishes, take the

dogs out.

So I take the dogs out and out of the corner of my eye I see something

moving on the deck. It's the bearded dragon so now i'm wrestling the

dogs to get back in the house hoping that they won't see the bearded

dragon and try and kill him. I call out to my husband to come and help.

My husband is grabbing a bucket and i'm grabbing some gloves. We are

running around like two chickens with their heads cut off.....lol..lol....

We get the bearded dragon in it's cage. We spend the next hour texting

our son asking what he had done with the dead creatures and telling him

that the dragon is alive. We check to see if the Iguana is alive also but no

he is really dead. We think that the bearded dragon just got to cold and

when he was put outside which was pretty warm yesterday the heat

revived him. The poor Iguana we guess just caught something and died.

Thankfully while I was outside it didn't come running at me or jump on

me off of somewhere cause then I would have killed myson.......LOL......

Do you ever feel like staying in bed?

Hello Everyone,

I don't know about you but for me there are days that when things

aren't going right I would have rathered stayed in bed. Hence the

picture in the header which comes from 3crows. I had so many

things that I needed to get done. I had some wine glasses that I

needed to etch for a friend for her daughters wedding this weekend.

The first glasses that I did didn't come out like they should have. The

words could not be seen until you poured colored liquid in them. This

poor girl has run into all kinds of mishaps with her wedding and I just

happen to be next in line of all her mishaps. Not a story for me to be

telling everyone so I will leave it up to her but I felt so bad for her. We

figured out that glass etching can not be done on crystal. I went out

and got a set of glasses and if you take a look at the picture below you

will see that these actually turned out. The words can be seen on them. The next thing on my agenda was to get tires put on my car because

one of the tires was spliting. I got my car down to our local tire store

(Thank You Jeff) and got that taken care. To bad that they were in

bad shape that they can't be used for a tire swing like in the picture

below which I borrowed from EchoBanksPhotography. Tire swings

bring back childhood memories. My tires that were taken off looked more like the ones you see in

the picture below which I borrowed this picture from RobinPanzerArt The next picture is of my little friend Marian at her dance recital.

My husband and Marians dad work for the same company and have

become good friends. Marian has muscular dystrophy so it is very

hard for her to do what others can do. Her parents found this dance

company that would allow Marian to take lessons. Marian had her

first dance recital on saturday and we were invited. She did a great

job. I took lots of pitures. When I have more time I will tell you more

about Marian and our friendship and the fun that we have when she

comes and visits. I have been so busy this week I also finally got a few more things

in my etsy shop. The most biggest of all things that I got done was

that I actually blogged again last week....LOL.....

The nuts don't have it.

Goodmorning Everyone,

Today I am going to go off the crafting subject. You probably already

know what direction i'm taking by the header picture. In the picture

below is Diesel our almost three year old pit. Isn't he cute? Awww

If any of you watch Racheal Ray and have seen her pit you might

agree that they almost look alike. The markings are almost identical

except Diesel is more red and hers is fawn colored. ......La la lalala la

Sorry i went of the right trail i'm back now. On to the story.

When we got Diesel he was to be my dog, but then of course every dog

we get is mine. Only so that it will be my job to train them. I wasn't in

good health when we got him and I just didn't do the things that were

suppose to be done with him like having him neutered. All because a

few months after we got him I landed in the hospital for emergency

gallbladder surgery. My recovery was long (a whole other story) and

I couldn't do the things that needed to be done. So in the picture below

you will see what my husband calls Diesels doggy porn shot. This is how

he usually lays on the love seat. We did not pose him. The only reason you

get to see this picture is because I wanted you to see how well endowed

he is for a dog and that he needed to get neutered. Finally last week we got him in to get neutered. We found out that

he weighs 104 lbs my jaw dropped to the ground and I thought to

myself he is gianormous( my kids made up word for giant and enormous)

so the joke became that he lost four pounds after being neutered. We also

had his dewclaws removed because about every two to three months he

breaks one off completely and then drives me nuts licking his boo boo.

In the picture below he is looking very 80's like with his leg warmers which

didn't make him very happy. I didn't and won't take a picture of his other part of surgery but here is

a closeup of his leg warmers. Now with having all this surgery he was

given meds for pain and an anti-inflamatory which in turn gave us........ This and boy do they stink. I know it's not his fault. It all has to do with his

boo boos. His leg warmers came off on saturday so he doesn't look like

in the picture below

but he has wire stitches and he won't leave them alone. He has the wires

poking straight out and is always pawing at us and poking us with them.

One more week and he gets all his stitches taken out. This is what I learned

It is easier on all involved if your pet gets spayed or neutered at the earliest

as possible. The smaller the animal is the easier it is on everyone and also it's

cheaper on the wallet. This is my helpful hint for the day. Until next post have

Make your own for less

My header picture today comes from PokeberryInkPress an Etsy shop.

One of many that are using Bakers Twine to embellish their crafts. To

Below is a picture of some of the Bakers twine that I have made. I visited

a tutorial over at: http://thefrugalcrafter.wordpress.com/2011/04/19/make-your-own-bakers-twine If you would like to see how she makes it. I make mine

a little different.

These are the things that I start out with Red Heart thread, masking

tape a clear hard plastic and a sharpie. I take the clear hard palstic and cut it the the width of a ruler and about

half the length of a ruler. I cover it with masking tape. The reason for

this is so the thread will grip the masking tape and not move. I then wind

the thread length ways on it. I take my sharpie and run the line diagonally

on both sides. This is what it should look like when you have done the lines on both sides. As you can see in the next picture I'm starting to take it off the form.

It looks pretty good for handmade. It looks almost like the real thing. Here are some of the other colors I made. Remember you don't have to run to a craft store to find the thread.

visit some of the second hand stores and you just might run into a deal

on threads like this. Sharpies sometimes I find at the Dollar Store. Keep

an eye out for yard sale that have crafting items. Make sure that when

you have completed your Bakers Twine to heat set it. You can do this

by throwing it in the dryer set on high for 5 minutes. I used my first

handmade Bakers Twine on a card that I entered for a Design Team

Call at My Pink Stampers Blog and had to make more twine. Until my
