Fabulous Friday and Sleepy Saturday.

Well hello everyone. I was going to try and find a shop that I thought had some fabuluos items for friday and some cozy items that would remind you of sleep for saturday but the week was a rough one. I am not the type of person that opens up to everyone so most of my friends and followers don't find out about my tribulations till after. Last sunday I had to take my new puppy to the vet because of an allergic reaction she is ok but all week we were on a med regemin. Monday I had a vet appointment for our dog Ozzy to get a growth on her eye looked at. The vet decided she needed surgery to remove it so it was set up for friday and a med regemin was started with her before surgery. Thursday I thought I broke my arm because of a run in with our other dog Diesel while playing. It's swollen and hurts but no break thank God. So now that only Ozzy is on a med regemin and my arm feels better hopefully this coming week I will get friday and saturday done. Have a great weekend !!!!!

Thursday thought of the day

66 percent of all statistics are made up on the spot. 82.4 percent of people believe them whether they're accurate statistics or not. Just a little food for thought.

Tuesday How to

Today I will show you how to make the Waterfall Card.

Materials needed: Red cardstock 12 x 12"
                            White cardstock 8  1/2 x 11"
                             6" ribbon
                             3 brads
                             Rubber stamp
                             Ink pad
                             Acid free glue

Red cardstock :  Cut one  5 & 1/2" x 8  & 1/2" for base of card
         score at 4 & 1/8", cut a 2" x 9" long strip and score
         one end at 2" , and at  2 & 3/4", and at 3 & 1/2", and
         at 4 & 1/4", cut a strip of 1/4" x 4 & 1/2", cut (4)  2" x
         2" squares.
White cardstock : Cut one 4 & 1/8" x 5 & 3/8" for card front
         cut (4) 1 & 7/8" squares.

Rubber stamp images on the upper right and left hand corners
of your white card front and on the 4 white sqaures.Once
ink has dried. Glue the white card front on the red card.
Glue the 1 white stamped  square on 1 red square directly
        in the center.

Take the red 2" x 9 " and  the four sqares. Glue the top edge
of the backside of one sqaure and place the top edge of
sqaure to the edge of the first scored line from the bottom.

As seen on picture. The shiny glue that you see towards
the top is where your last square will go.

Second square will be set at the edge of the next scored line.
Remember to only put glue at the top edge of  the back side
of the square. Third square at the third score line and fourth
       at the forth score line.

Take the red strip 1/4" x 4 & 1/2 " and using your brads place the bottom edge of the strip 3/4" from the bottom of the card.

Add the ribbon to the backside of the waterfal strip with a brad.
As seen in picture. Then take the long cascading square strip
and place the backside that has the ribbon attached under the strip with the brads. Once centered
lift the top place glue on the top of the strip that is braded down lay the top part of the cascading strip
down edge to edge. Pull ribbon and your card should look like a waterfall cascading as you pull and push ribbon .
If you have any questions just e-mail me or post it on comments. I get to both every day. Enjoy!

Something new in the air

I have been working on something new that I hope to have up by friday. I'll give a couple of little hints. Paper, wire, crocheting, beads, rubber stamping, inks, yarn, ribbon, fur, ok ok that should really get your brain ticking. As you can tell from my shop I am not a specialty crafter. I choose to work with everything and sometimes that is my downfall. Oh well that's just me.

What"s in a name?

Today while in the Etsy chat room I was clicking on avatars and for the first time TheDamnNations name caught my attention and it made me ask how did TheDamnNation come up with the name. My name came about when I started selling my crafts in a crafters mall and the days sales of tags were in a box till they were posted on the pc at the end of the day. I looked for a stamp that I could stamp on my tags. The tags weren't very big and so I found a small snowflakes stamp would work great. I stamped all my tags and it made it easy to spot in the box and see what I had sold that day. So one day i'm in the shop going through the tags with a couple of other vendors and as I was picking out my tags one vendor says to me so your the snowflakes and I said to her only in my dreams. She then said to me it was nice to put a face to the tags after all there was over a hundred vendors in that mall. From then on she called me snowflake dreams and it stuck. How did everyone of you come up with your shop name?

A Neat websight

My husband directed me to this 100 Extraordinary Examples of Paper Art/ Webdesigner Depot http://www.webdesignerdepot.com/2009/05/100-extraordinary-examples-of-paper-art/

Consumer Service at Sears

Well as you all know now I've talked to someone at Sears. They could not find anything on the sweater that supposedly has been recalled, and without a reciept you will get the refund for the item at the price it is to date. So here is the biggest secret. Give everyone money for Christmas and let them do thier own shopping they will get better deals at retail stores. If you give everyone $20 they can walk into Sears after Christmas and buy 3-5 sweaters instead of one and have a whole new waredrobe. Think about it if my mother-in-law bought it for $36 maybe even at $28 if it was on sale what the mark up is now that you can buy it for $7. It's insane.

Exchanging your gift.

This weekend I went to the big city to try and exchange my gifts that my mother-in-law sent me for Christmas. Every christmas it is the same she sends me a a sweater or two and always in the wrong size or a color that I would never wear. Dreading having to do this again for the 26th year in a row. I walk into Sears with two sweaters that need to be exchanged because of the size. Both sweaters have the tags on them. The black one cost $36 and the red one cost $40. Lets see how many of you have endured the insanity. A very young clerk assists me she tells me to go and look for the right size. I find the black one in the right size but the red sweater the right size is not in stock. I opt for a different sweater that cost $4 less. I return to the counter the clerk then tells me she can not exchange the black sweater because it has been re-called. She tells me I can't exchange the red one for a different one because the sales price now for the red sweater that I need in a bigger size now is selling for $7.00 and with no reciept I can't do that. The clerk then asks me if I would just like a refund and tells me that the refund for both sweater will be $11.74. By this time I am fuming. So I tell her to give me the sweaters that I will sell them so I can get enough to buy me two sweaters somewhere else like Macys. She hands them back to me and then I proceed to ask her if she is going to let me walk out with a sweater tha they sold that now has been re-called she tells me yes. So the I tell her that if I burn wearing that sweater then what? She lets me walk out. Now I'm going to call Sears and have it out with them. I'll let everyone know how that turns out.
