High Winds

Hi Everyone,
Well the last couple of weeks have been interesting so
this will be a little longer post than usual.
Last week we some dreadful weather. We had 60 mile
an hour winds that it sounded like a helicopter was trying
to land in our yard. Here are some pictures of the damage
that our house sustained.
We lost a piece to the carport and some of the corner
edges. Never did find the carport piece.
I also won another blog hop blog candy. I won some
stamps and what I know about them is that they have
not been released to the public yet. I can't wait to get them.
I have been asked to do a guest tutorial on my poinsettias
so I have been busy working on that. As soon as my tutorial
goes up on the blog I will let everyone know so I can get some
feedback.
A couple of days ago we had a blizzrd warning here in my
little town. It got real cold and we got lots of snow. Here are
a few pictures I took while it was still coming down.
Looks real cold. Believe me it is.
Hope everyone is doing ok.
Have a Splendid Day!!!!!!!!!!

Things are a changing

This weekend I did a blog hop called Operation Write Home.
Over a hundred bloggers were involved and what they did was
make cards to send to those who serve in the milatary. These
cards are for service members to use to write home on. They
don't have to go shopping for cards for thier loved ones.
So many of the bloggers had blog candy and if you became
a follower or just left a comment you were entered to win. I
one of the blog candies so once again I'm doing a happy dance.
                               **LOL**
I thought that I would pass this along Operation Write Home
is a finalist in a contest that they entered at JoAnns please take
the time to Vote for OWH so they can win for our heros. If
they win it would help them with the cost of getting these cards
to our soldiers. Follow the link to vote.

the blog candy from.

An Award

Hi Everyone,
Today I won an award but it's not a favorite kind of
award that anyone would want to win and I'll tell you why.
In my family we award each other what we call the
duhret duhret award when we do something unthinkable
actually we call it when we do something dumb.
So today I have to give myself this award because I
let something completely slip my mind. I owe Deb from
the Wugs Backyard a huge apology. Deb won my give-
away last month and I have yet to send her the tag she
picked out. I am very sorry Deb I will get it in the mail.
Deb is such a dear and never reminded me about it. Let
me tell you I would ave been right on it asking about it
I did however get her subscription in to Country Living
so I hope she gets that soon.

Now that I am done eating humble pie on to the next
thing.Last week in the mail I recieved my nephew. Let me
explain his class is doing a project and he sent me what he
called flat Noah.

          Noah with our dog Diesel

We were to take pictures with flat Noah and answer some
questions so that he could get to know his family a little better.
It is also to create the Flat Amazing Family Album. It took
some time but I got it done and e-mailed to him. Hope he gets
a good grade on it.
I am blessed. A couple of months back my sister-in-law
got a new serger and she passed her old one on to me. I
am so happy that she passed it on but I have one small
problem. She has lost the book so now i'm on the hunt to
get the book so that I can run the serger properly.
Here is the picture of my serger

A closer look at the brand of serger

I've been conversing with the company to see if they have
the book for it and how much it will cost me to get it. So wish
me luck.

Hope you are all having A Splendid Day!!!!!!!!!!!

Shopping Haul

Hi Everyone,
First of all I would like to thank all our Veterns for
keeping our country safe and free. God Bless them
and thier families.
Last week I went shopping it's my bi-weekly thing
I do and I go to the Tri-Cities because it gives me more
options. It is two hours round trip so I always try and
make the best of it by visiting at least six stores when
I go and then doing the grocery shopping.
One of my store stops was Micheals and was I glad
I went in. Here are some of the great buys I found while
there.

I found some Martha Stewart punches at a great
price $5.99 - $7.99 these are the halloween
punches, some EK pens for $5.99 , and an
EK punch for $4.99. All of this was on the
clearence isle. At  Craft Warehouse I found
some markers for $9.73. I also had a 40%
off coupon for Micheals so I used it to buy
one of the snowflake punches.

Now to get some things done with what I
bought. I'll be able to use the halloween
punches on the scrapbook page for the
contest at Faes' and then they will sit till
next year. The pens and markers I will
use daily and the snowflake punch is
already in use. I'll be posting what I have
made in the next few days.

Hope you all are having a
Splendid Day!!!!!!

Oh I almost forgot there is a blog that
has some blog candy to giveaway
(Pro markers)
She won't pick a winner till she gets
a certain amount of followers.

She does some beautiful work.

Not a Scrapbooker per say

Hi Everyone,
Well as I talked on my post yesterday I would get
into what I won, but first I have to begin at the beginning
of the story.
There is a store called Faes' twelve miles north of
where I live. This is where I usually buy some of my
cardstock and what not to do my paper crafts. Every
month she has a contest where you buy a scrapbook
kit. The kit runs about three dollars. Every month I
buy the kit come home and do my page, now mind you
i'm not really into scrapbooking. I then return the page
to Faes' where it is judged. First place wins a $10 gift
certificate and second wins a $5 gift certificate to the
store. Every month I lose out to this gal named Stella.
Stella does some beautiful work she is really into
scrapbooking, she has all the tools that are out. A real
wonderful gal.
Here is the page that I did last month.

Not my best work. I threw this together over night
because of everything that was going on.
Well I finally beat Stella. Boy was I happy and so
was the owner of Faes' cause Stella has won first place
for the last five months. To be honest I thought her page
was beautiful and she would win again. The comments
that were made was that her page had to much going
on and that it took away from the pictures.
In all honesty I feel good in one aspect but feel bad
in an other cause I really thought her page should have
won. So i'm kind of torn. It also reminds me that some
times more is not better. Oh well.
Off I go to work on my next page.

      Have a Splendid Day!!!!!!!!!!!!

MIA

Hi Everyone,
Lately I have been MIA I know but once again
I can say I'm back and hopefully  I can stay up on
my blogging. The reason that I was gone is because
my uncle and my dad were not doing good health
wise. My dad is having knee problems so he has
been seeing a message therapist. My Uncle who
is my cousin Gilberts dad (remember Gilbert passed
away in October) ended up in the hospital a little
touch and go there.

My dad on the harley. Couldn't find a
                  picture of my uncle.

I have been real busy ....NOT ..... I have been
working on some new projects. I hope to have them
up some time this weekend.  I have done a lot of
shopping and I will show you later this week all the
great finds and hauls.
In October I was still canning tomatoes because my
husband and son brought the tomatoes in to ripen and
it was a good thing cause the very next day we got
frost. Here is the stewed tomatoes and the green hot
sauce that I made.

I also managed to get out and get some pictures of the
trees and bushes changing colors.

I love the color on this tree.

I also did a little bit of decorating for the holiday that just
passed. I went through nine bags of candy that night.

I know not my best picture taking.

The best thing that has happened is that I won a contest
I'll tell you about that later this week because this post is
getting so long since I have been missing for some time.

Hope everyone is doing well. Have a Splendid Day!!!!!!!!!!

Today is 'Say What You Need To Say' Day

Some times in life you have people who are suppose to be there
for you unconditionally but for some reason they turn thier back
on you  so this letter is to my grandfather.

Grandpa,
By now you are aware that I do have a lot of hate for you. When
you watched us (my brothers and me) and my cousins when our
parents were working I felt you took joy in having us feel all kinds of
pain. The abuse that you dished out mentally and physically was just
awful for young minds. I don't understand what young children could
have ever done to you to have treated someone the way you did.
I don't know when you had your stroke that left you paralyzed on
one whole side that you had to use a cane, but as long as I can
remember that was your physical being. That cane was not to be used
as a weapon. You use to piss me off every time you used it to hit my
little brother on the head with it I would hide it for a reason and then
you would tell my parents that I was evil because I would take that
cane and hide it and I would get the spanking of my life. I would
spend my days dreaming of burning that cane.
Dodging that glass ash tray that you would always throw at me or
my brothers was not understandable and every time I tried to tell my
parents on you, you would tell them that I was making things up. You
made everyone believe that I was a liar. Why ? I never did anything
to you to not make you love me as far as I can remember. I know
that I can't get that answer but I know that you have that to answer
to God about.
Was it enjoyable to you to lock me and my brothers out of the
house while you kept them (our cousins) inside and told them not
to let us in? Then you would give them something to eat and would
stand them in front of the glass door so we could watch. You were
the evil one.The spanking I will never forget to this day is the one I
got after another of your lock out incidents. You locked us out again
for the who knows how many times. My little brother was hungry
and I just couldn't stand it he was to young to understand so I
walked up the hill to our house and got money from my piggy bank
and got on my bike and rode to the store and got my brothers some-
thing to eat. You told on me but gave my parents a different story
that made me look bad. That is the day I vowed I would dance
on your grave the day you died.
When I was growing up my friends talked about how they had fun
with thier grandparents and I could never understand them because
you were not someone fun to be around. When you went to live in
convalescent home you still had a lot to do with me getting in trouble
because I did not want to go and visit you and more often than not
I didn't. Dad expected me to when not even he went to see you. I
always wondered what you had done to him for him not to go see
you either.

I got older and went on with my life. You passed away. The family
waited to let me know after you were buried. They knew that I
would do what I had vowed to do so as not to embarrass them
they let me know after you were six feet under.
I have since returned to live back home and i'm now living in the
house that you use to live in. So many bad memories here in this
house. So what I have to say is this: I am strong , loving, caring,
compassionate, hard working , educated and most of all honest.
I went on to prove  you wrong that I was not anything like what
you said I was. I love to craft, I have three wonderful kids, I
have worked in the medical field  where you have to care and
be compassionate. I have a wonderful husband. I am Happy with
my life. Much more than I guess you could say.

My God tells me that I need to forgive so I forgive you but I
will never forget. I wish I could have really gotten to know you
not the meanness that I did,

Your Granddaughter,
Velma ( La Flaca)

Thank You Deb for asking me to be a part of this blog hop
of  'Say What You Need To Say' Day
